Sarah Olsen - UK HEAD OF COACHING
Over her career, Sarah has worked in audit, accounting, risk, consultancy, coaching and training with and for companies including AVIVA, Capita plc, RBS and GE Capital.
Sarah trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant after gaining a First Class degree in Modern Languages and Business Studies. Within the accountancy practice, Sarah was responsible for managing a portfolio of clients from sectors as diverse as engineering, transport, education, retail, publishing and manufacturing.
Sarah then took on an on-site investigation, reporting and trouble-shooting role at the German subsidiary of a FTSE100 company. She worked closely with the German Board on business improvement and business growth.
Sarah also worked as an internal consultant on business risk, reporting to the Board and CEO of a leading, multinational life insurance company. As part of this role, Sarah managed and coached review teams in carrying out projects across the UK and in overseas business units.
Sarah is a qualified Coach and Mentor. For the last 16 years, she has given highly valued coaching to hundreds of executives, professionals and students as well as delivering workshops and seminars to business groups, SMEs and large corporations.

Anna Tsatsaki
Anna has more than 15 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, where she has recruited personnel across multiple industries, levels and job roles across the UK. She has worked in both Recruitment Consulting environments and Recruitment Partnering roles within HR departments. She has been an Assessment Centre interviewer and assessor for Graduate level roles and also recruited experienced professionals at middle and senior management levels. She is an expert in competency based, skills and cultural fit interviews, and has designed assessment processes and interview questions for different departments. Some of her most recent industry experience is in Management Consulting and Professional Services with global firms such as Capita, North Highland and DLA Piper.
Anna was born and raised in Greece and attended university in the UK where she studied Management and International Business degrees. During her studies, she worked closely with many Chinese classmates and gained an appreciation of their culture and work ethic. She has first-hand experience in studying, living and working in a new country, where she went through the language and cultural barriers and challenges herself, but importantly learnt to successfully overcome these and build a rewarding career in the UK.
Based on her personal experiences, along with her expertise in recruitment and passion for helping others shape their careers, she is in a great position to support Chinese students equip themselves with the life skills, knowledge and confidence required, not only to succeed in the first steps of their career, but also to build strong foundations that will become the pillars of their future career development and personal success in a global labour market.
Bill Tyrrell
Bill is a versatile and accomplished professional with over 40 years’ experience in pharmaceuticals, law, communication, science and research. As a qualified UK and European Patent Attorney, he has headed up global teams with lawyers from over 40 different countries, including the US and China. He has also worked in roles covering coaching, mentoring and recruitment and has run his own company.
Bill was educated at the University of Oxford where he studied Chemistry. He left with a doctorate and joined Beecham Pharmaceuticals as a researcher in the field of heart disease, becoming increasingly interested in biotechnology and gene manipulation.
After several years Bill switched careers and studied to become a patent lawyer, qualifying as a UK and European Patent Attorney. Thereafter Bill took on increasingly senior roles with SmithKline Beecham and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), managing a growing team of patent attorneys, first in vaccine research coming out of Belgium, and then overseeing the whole European team. He eventually rose to the position of interim Head of the Global Patent Department with a large team of 150 lawyers and support staff.
Bill finished his 40-year career with the company as Head of Collaboration and Communication for the Legal Department reporting to the US-based General Counsel. This involved liaising with some 650 legal staff in over 40 countries to promote a ‘one legal’ ethos and a common global philosophy. In his career Bill has spent a considerable time working in the US and has collaborated with company lawyers and researchers based in Philadelphia and North Carolina and with external legal counsel based in New York and Washington DC.
Bill served as a member of the senior GSK legal management team, setting parameters for recruitment of legal staff and for diversity, equity and inclusion. Bill is also a Chartered Chemist and has taught many times at the Royal Society of Chemistry Medicinal Chemistry School in the UK. He is the author of several publications on patent law and chemistry and has spoken at international conferences in Europe and China.
More recently, Bill has been involved with communication and language skills, set up his own company, and obtained a qualification in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, before joining Mandarin Consulting. Bill’s varied corporate experience of scientific research, law and management, along with his valuable insights and expertise, will prove a real asset to candidates wishing to pursue careers in any field.
Brian Renwick
After commissioned service in the British army in Libya, Brian Renwick began a career in management by undertaking one of the very first full-time post-graduate programmes in Human Resource Management. His career spans almost the entire history of modern day HR management.
Brian served for twelve years in various HR positions at two major UK corporations in mining and precious metals. He moved to Hong Kong to become Director of Personnel Services at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and joined HSBC as Head of Personnel. Brian was also the Regional Director of Aon Consulting Asia. He founded the Human Resources consulting company Renwick McCormick Maule & Tam. Brian has served in six major organisations in five countries.
Brian has been active in the Hong Kong community and has either chaired or sat on a number of educational and advisory bodies. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service. He is a Vice Chairman of The Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong, a Member of the Housing Society, former Chairman of the Manpower Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and Convenor of the HR Group of the British Chamber of Commerce.
Caroline Finlay
Over her 30-year career Caroline has worked in Architecture, Computing Technology, Consultancy, Coaching, Training and Development for companies that include Intergraph and Microsoft.
Caroline trained as an Architect and worked in private practice in Zambia, Johannesburg, and London. Becoming an early adopter of Computer Aided Design technology saw Caroline join Intergraph, a world leading and global US based computer graphics company. Here she was responsible for delivering technical support, designing, and delivering training and development, coaching, mentorship and consultancy.
These services were provided at all levels of the organisation, from shop floor workers to the C-Suite leadership team. The customers were typically from Government organisation, FTSE 100, and Fortune 500 companies with offices around the world. The industries included Architecture Engineering and Construction, Telecoms and Transportation, Earth Sciences, Banking and Finance, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering, Health, Medical and Legal.
Caroline travelled extensively in Europe, Africa and the USA and used the GROW model for performance coaching, which is ideal for 1:1 and team-based sessions.
After studying for an MBA Caroline joined Microsoft where she was part of the global health team and was responsible for Health and Central Government in Scotland. She managed and grew a portfolio of software products and technical/consulting services to over £50m and managed a team of over 40 staff and business partners. Caroline travelled regularly to Microsoft HQ in Seattle, Washington to work on complex projects with high profile customers. Inspired by Tony Robbins, Caroline completed her training as a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (a behavioural model). She used this to compliment the GROW coaching model to boost the personal development, motivation, performance, and well-being of her team.
Recognising the pivotal and ubiquitous role of technology on modern life, Caroline embarked on a quest to better understand how to balance and manage the impact of technology on individuals. She journeyed to India to complete advanced Yoga Teacher Training and incorporated proven well-being techniques into her coaching practice.
Caroline is a Performance and Well-Being Coach, committed to helping people realise their potential, improve their performance, and nurture their well-being.
Carolyn Hawley
Carolyn is a highly experienced HR Professional, Coach and Coach Supervisor, with 30 years of varied experience in Recruitment, HR and Coaching. She has worked across a range of industries including, oil and gas, FMCG, engineering and retail. She has additional experience in the Public Sector within the NHS and the Police Force. Carolyn has a passion for coaching and developing people’s full potential, both in their careers and in their lives generally.
She began as a Recruitment Consultant and throughout her career she has interviewed, assessed, advised and coached candidates from entry level through to executive level, so she is well placed to provide support and encouragement to Mandarin Consulting clients. She already has experience mentoring and coaching young professionals with their careers and job applications and has worked with a range of other people returning to work after a career break.
Carolyn has managed international graduate rotation schemes, notably while living & working in Denmark for Carlsberg. Her role with Carlsberg and working for the Northamptonshire Police Force gave her extensive Assessment Centre experience. Her role at Carlsberg also included the management of expatriates worldwide across APAC, including in China, and EMEA, so she understands the importance of cultural diversity and the exciting challenges of living and working in a different country.
She has professional qualifications as a Business & Personal Coach (ICF accredited at ACC level currently) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Career Talent Management. She is a Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (FCIPD) and has a BSc (Honours) in Psychology.
Carolyn currently works part-time as an HR Director and on a variety of other coaching assignments. She is ideally placed to share her 30 years’ expertise with MC candidates.
Catherine Jones
During her many years’ experience working, managing and leading teams in different vocational areas in the Further, Higher and Adult education sector Catherine has gained extensive understanding of a range of different industries. Catherine developed and lead the Computing and IT School at a large inner city college in London developing work based routes and the Access to HE in Computing programme, As Deputy Director Catherine managed and lead the Department of Technology and was responsible for the quality assurance and admissions for both further and higher education courses. Catherine has worked at the University of London Institute of Education teaching and training post-graduate students and at Birkbeck providing career counselling and guidance to students on a range of different undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Catherine also was Head of Learning at a training provider in London which involved working with employers to recruit staff and develop bespoke training across a range of industries including Engineering, Accountancy and FMCG.
During the years in education Catherine also helped many young college students start and develop their career. Catherine has extensive knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the leading global companies having successfully prepared undergraduates and post graduate students for their first role on leaving university. Catherine also has in-depth understanding of the emotional developments of young people and feels very passionate about developing their potential. Through her career coaching work, she has successfully coached her candidates enter leading global companies in finance, technology, consulting and other industries.
Catherine also has experience working with college age students competing to gain apprenticeships and internships in leading companies. Catherine is very experienced in inspiring and guiding young people to build their confidence and coach them to find their own passion in their chosen field. Her ability to relate and engage with young students enables her to coach MCI candidates successfully
Catherine has a Masters’ Degree in Career Management and Coaching and presented her research on career navigation for refugees at the BSP Occupational Psychology Conference, subsequently her paper was published in the Career Development International journal. Catherine also has a Masters in Post Compulsory Education and Training and a PGCE. In addition, she is trained in Psychometric Assessment and is a Licensed User of Intelligent Career Card Sort and MBTI and is a registered professional with the Career Development Institute. Catherine also has a qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
Catherine lived and worked in West Africa for 3 years and enjoys meeting and working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. She is very much looking forward to supporting young people to identify and achieve successful career aims.
David Walters
David was a British Diplomat having spent over 30 years with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. David worked in 19 different countries including the North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa. (USA, Germany, New Zealand, China, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, The Yemen, Ukraine, Colombia and elsewhere).
David has managed and led teams of all cultures, religions and backgrounds in every continent of the world. As Head of Corporate Services around the world, he has managed budgets of millions, staff of dozens and the careers of many.
Globally, David has worked with The United Nations, the British Council, The Royal Household, MI5 and MI6, the European Union, Department for International Development and the BBC. Some of the commercial bodies were ISS Facilities Services Providers, Sheraton Hotels, Coca-Cola and AEGIS Security Services.
David worked a number of years in the US where he was responsible for working with a number of NGOs and commercial companies in promoting Britain’s interests in dealing with the seven South Easterly States of; Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Mississippi and Tennessee. He worked closely on various projects with the Governor of Florida in Tallahassee, the FBI in Tampa and the commercial office in Miami.
In recent years, David also provided Business Practice training to multinational corporations such as: HSBC, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, FedEx, Warner Music, Prudential Financial, PWC and Philip Morris in Taiwan.
David is a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO), he was also awarded numerous prestigious awards for his contribution in the diplomatic services. David also has CELTA qualification in Teaching English and he speaks Mandarin.
Eric Waley
Eric was educated at Eton College and Cambridge University and has both a BA and an MA in Law.
Eric has practised as a barrister-at-law since qualifying. He went to Hong Kong for 10 years in the 1980s, working for the Hong Kong government. While there he enjoyed the cultural life, particularly the performing arts and music. Eric’s interest in these areas started during his Cambridge University days where he joined Footlights and was actively involved with a group of now well-known directors, actors and actresses of the modern British theatre, film and TV industry. Eric has played the saxophone since school and performed regularly in bands until his professional life became too demanding. Eric’s rich academic background, varied work and life experience from his legal career, understanding of, and interest in, the Chinese and Far East Asia all make him an excellent coach for our career coaching programme.
Flora Moxon
Flora’s career in international Human Resources and Career Development spans three decades, four continents and many more countries, including China, the USA, Canada, South Africa, France, Belgium and the UK.
Through broad exposure to the business and corporate world, she has developed a deep understanding and insight into the culture, working practices and expectations of large international companies. Early on in her career, Flora was responsible for recruiting over 500 graduates and young professionals in Shanghai whilst at Portman Company as their Human Resources Manager. Thereafter, Flora spent over 13 years at American International Group (AIG), working in senior talent management roles and moving internationally several times. Her final position in the company was Global Head of Senior Leadership Development and Organizational Design, based in the company’s global headquarters in New York. Living and working in the US enriched her knowledge of US business culture and hiring practices.
She then went on to work for other companies and organisations, including Munich Re and International Airlines Group (IAG).
During her years at the forefront of international business, Flora has managed graduate and leadership development programs, recruited university graduates and Masters students and coached them to develop their professional skills and achieve their career goals. She has enjoyed working with eager and ambitious Mandarin Consulting candidates since 2016, developing their global competencies and supporting many to launch exciting careers in a broad diversity of companies.
George Sanne
George started the early part of his career in Banking for both Robert Fleming, now part of J.P. Morgan, followed by Merrill Lynch, in both the Asset Management and Private Banking divisions, in London and Luxembourg. This was followed by a career in Recruitment and Executive Search for 12 years, including for Michael Page International.
George has worked predominantly in The Netherlands as well as Belgium and Luxembourg. After a successful stint as a Recruiter for Michael Page International, he was a Partner and then Managing Partner for five years for Boyden Global Executive Search in The Netherlands.
Responding to differing demands, he has refocused his efforts where he felt and identified more of a professional need in exerting his expertise, notably to provide career and remuneration advice. He also sees a need for employers, including HR and management, to be properly advised on how to best retain and maximise their staffing talent. George has dealt with employers ranging from start-ups to blue chip multinationals, including some of the largest European banks such as Credit Agricole, ING, and Commerzbank. Throughout his career George has interviewed, advised and counselled candidates from entry level to executive level.
More recently and having moved to London, George has co-founded a business networking group to help potential business owners become successful entrepreneurs and realising their dreams.
George has a BA in sociology from the University of Westminster and an MA in International relations from the University of Amsterdam. He is also a Professional Certified Coach trained in line with the ICF (International Coaching Federation)
Jennifer Langrish
Jen is a skilled and versatile coach who can support individuals to achieve their career goals based on her more than 21 years of experience in the corporate and public sectors, across public policy, transport and government, software and media, sales and marketing, sustainability and health, and behavioural change.
She has held senior positions at organisations including Transport for London (TfL), one of the UK’s largest employers. At TfL, Jen most recently led a large team engaging with thousands of businesses helping to reduce congestion on London’s roads. Her role included coaching managers across the business to help improve their skills and leadership capabilities. Jen has also managed teams in software and media companies in the UK and has worked globally in Australia, South America, and Thailand.
Jen has successfully worked with many people across a wide range of seniority from graduates to experienced business leaders. Over the past 8 years this has included providing career coaching for individuals and groups, 121 business coaching as well as providing training to groups of leaders, developing key business skills.
Jen has been coaching since 2013 and trained with The Coaching Academy – one of the most recognised and largest coaching training organisations in the world. She has two diplomas, one in Personal Performance Coaching (Merit) and one in Corporate and Executive Coaching (Merit).
She has a friendly yet challenging, person-centred approach that enables people to perform beyond their own expectations. Jen helps people to structure their thinking, gain a greater self-awareness, look at situations objectively and take effective action. She has a proven track record of helping people develop new competencies, leadership skills, confidence, and a positive and effective way of interacting with the world.
Jen loves the outdoors and enjoys gardening and surfing in her spare time.
Melissa Bramley
Melissa is a highly experienced HR Professional, Coach and Counsellor, with over 13 years of varied experience working for large corporate organisations within recruitment, development, talent, partnership and programme management. Melissa’s experience sits across a breadth of industries including engineering, energy, telecommunications, and the legal sector. Melissa has a passion for helping others develop to their full potential.
Melissa began her career managing Assessment Boards of candidates for the UK Parliament. She then moved into a role with a London law firm in property acquisition and into the public sector. Melissa then worked in the corporate world to design from scratch, develop, manage and operate Graduate Schemes at Vodafone and EDF Energy. She has a wealth of experience designing end to end assessment and selection processes, and working with and supporting young professionals as their Coach whilst on their Graduate Schemes and beyond.
Most recently, Melissa worked within Corporate Social Responsibility, leading on the engagement of young people during their school years onwards, managing high profile partnerships, in particular promoting the benefits of developing employability skills by taking part in social action, through EDF Energy’s partnership with the HRH The Prince of Wales’ Step up to Serve campaign.
Melissa has a degree in Classical Studies from King’s College London, a diploma in Counselling, and a teaching qualification. Melissa has a passion for coaching, for working with graduates and for the English language. She is keen to share her in-depth knowledge and experience through her role at Mandarin Consulting.
Monica Chetal-Sharma
Monica has a deep understanding of the technology industry from her earlier career as a programmer in India and subsequent years working in global top companies in HR and training. With her interest in technology and people, she has led global teams in American, British, and Japanese organisations like Canon, Coca-Cola and HCL Technologies gaining valuable experience in working in multicultural environments in global companies.
Monica has been coaching people in achieving excellence at work, they include middle to senior level professionals and also entry level graduates. She has been on the interview panel for senior level recruitments and has worked with organisations like SHL in order to design in-house assessment centres. She has been instrumental in creating policies around career development, helped employees in moving up in their career journeys, created management development frameworks, tying performance of employees with their jobs. She has vast experience, knowledge and understanding of competencies required in different job roles and business functions.
Monica is a Coach and a Facilitator with 25 years of rich experience. She is a Human Resources professional, certified NLP Practitioner and Coach and Master Practitioner in Hypnotherapy with certification in Executive Coaching from Cambridge University.
Monica is also a Board Member and volunteers as an HR Advisor to one of the leading autism related charities in the United Kingdom.
Patrick Reid
Patrick gained a Biochemistry degree, an MBA and a PhD in biochemistry from The University of Manchester.He worked in leading multinational pharmaceutical companies such as ICI, Zeneca and AstraZeneca for some 20 years including a number of senior international roles in Medical Affairs, Marketing, eBusiness and Innovation. In AstraZeneca he was a founding member of an internal innovation team establishing a focus for innovation within the organisation. Prior to this he worked as Director of Global eMarketing and was frequently responsible for introducing new digital technologies to the organisation.
More recently he has worked with WCI Consulting and Eden McCallum. Previous consulting clients have included Celgene, Roche, Pfizer Animal Health, Oxford PharmaGenesis and others.
Patrick’s work in a number of leading UK business schools including Warwick and Manchester has demonstrated his strong and continuing interest in helping individuals realise their potential and therefore has much to offer our candidates.
Paul Fitzpatrick
Paul has over 20 years’ consulting experience, initially with Accenture as a Strategy Consultant and most recently with his own companies, Systeme Ouvert Solutions and Inextrinsic. Whilst at Accenture Paul worked within the Telecoms and Media practice advising clients such as BT, Verizon, AT&T, Alcatel and the BBC. He specialised in business planning, market sizing & evaluation and strategy formulation.
Paul set up his own company, Systeme Ouvert, as a niche software engineering firm servicing clients such as Credit Suisse, Nokia and Balfour Beatty. Latterly, it has focused on nurturing and advising start-ups, with Paul delivering coaching and mentoring to the start-up founders. Through his other company, Inexstrinsic, a specialist HR Consulting firm, Paul has broad experience of working with some of the top, professional organisations including Deloitte, Oliver Wyman, Linklaters and EY.
With this breadth of experience Paul is perfectly positioned to help Mandarin Consulting candidates become successful professionals in their chosen career paths. Paul graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and holds an MBA from the Cass Business School in London. Outside of the corporate world, Paul is a qualified Athletics Coach helping junior athletes to achieve their potential.
Tim Pedlar
Tim has a deep understanding of global business needs through his many years global experience in recruitment, sales, IT, and entrepreneurial experiences.
Tim’s experience as a recruiter, has been a truly global one, covering the US, UK, Europe, The Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Russia and APAC across a range of countries and cultures. He has led and worked with multinational teams hiring people into all business functions within a wide range of businesses, mostly investment banking, commercial banking, finance, professional services, IT, and retail.
For several years, Tim was instrumental in managing the recruitment for HSBC in both Wealth Management, Commercial/Corporate Banking, and all executive hiring across UK-based HSBC businesses. Tim has also been involved in start-up consulting and professional services companies.
Since 2010 Tim has been working as a consultant to the US based recruitment intelligence firm Reveal Global Intelligence, working with many US multinational corporations in the US and all around the world. He has also been consulting several US and European-based corporations supporting their ambitions to expand in China.
Through his recruitment work, Tim developed a passion for coaching, since 2016 Tim has been providing career, life, and business coaching services. He is a qualified coach and holds a post graduate certificate in coaching from Birkbeck College, University of London.
Vera Urban
Vera is a professional recruiter of international talent and human resources consultant having had nearly 20 years of HR experience on both strategic and operational level.
Her recruitment company worked in the IT, Pharmaceutical, FMCG, Banking and Finance, and Engineering industries. Her clients included EY, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, HP, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Bridgestone and Flextronics.
She is an interview guru and has conducted over 4000 interviews. She has also built and executed many assessment centres for companies and knows the ins and outs of psychometric testing.
She knows what it takes to be the best and how to get candidates to achieve their potential.
Besides pushing our Chinese candidates all the way to the top, she is also working as Vice President of human resources for a start-up company called Tellspec in the US, where she is responsible for developing the organisation’s human resource function and performance.
Previously, she was also Country HR Manager for Marks & Spencer, developing and launching a new HR system consistent with operational objectives in the UK and implementing a Performance Management system. She was responsible for recruitment and onboarding, as well as developing structured interviewing processes for the company.
She has previously exclusively been working with our UK team, and we are honoured to have her also on board in our US team for Mandarin Consulting.
